Learning from our students!

Who should learn more in a classroom, the teacher or the students? As I continue on my journey as a teacher/learner, I have come to realise that as teachers we should leave our classrooms with more knowledge than when we entered. Using blogs has enabled me to learn a lot about my students, their lives, their interests, their thoughts and their intentions. They have also probed issues, extended questions and posed new ways of looking at teaching and learning. I have learned so much from reading these blogs. True learning should be two-way. Classrooms as a learning space for teachers and students. What do you think?

  1. I totally agree with you.Learning is for us all and it's there but we only need to be convinced by being learner from our students.Observation and thinking of what we have observed will help too in this. Before you teach you have to learn so teach what you learn and learn what you teach*_*

  2. For me, I work with students near the end of their educational career who are ready for further study in higher education. So my role is to make a lasting impact in their lives by encouraging them to be life-long learners .They have their own thoughts, I'm just a mentor, sometimes I treat them as my friends .

  3. as a teacher i came to realize that having an open mind gives you the opportunity to learn from others and be influenced as much as you influence them.
but this Privilege is maximized when learners talk in a safe environment, they would be able to express their inner thoughts and ideas freely without being judged.

  4. one of the habits of Sean covey to be an effective person is "understand to be understood " so that we need to understand the students, how they learn, what motivate them, and what inhibit their learning to be able to design them the suitable lesson and atmosphere which encourage their learning.

  5. Having blogs is a modern technological method that replaced the traditional diary. Traditional diaries could be lost or worn out, but blogs won't, unless you intend to. Moreover you can reach or be reached on a huge scale. You can have thousands or even millions of followers.

  6. I think I learn a lot from my students and through teaching them.Everyday ,every class is different from the others . They enrich my experiences, provoke new questions in my mind and they always surprise me.Using the class group on face book, I come to know more about them .
