Have you ever noticed how its the small things in life that sometimes make a big difference? Well this week, I was reminded about that as my students struggled to access Blackboard and to write their references in APA style. Both activities were eventually conquered by paying attention to the small details. This made me think that as teachers, we may plan and prepare to teach, but we have to also pay attention to the small details that may affect students' learning in the classroom. Do they know how to put things in alphabetical order? Do they know how to extract information from a printed source? Do they know how to find a copyright date? Do they know how to distinguish between an author an an editor? We cannot take these small things for granted. We must dig deep to really find out if they know the little things that we think they should know to be successful.
I do believe in your concept. How to teach deep. How to follow"slowly but surely".
ReplyDeleteFor example,I was asking myself : What will help to improve our life's ?
The true understanding is the answer. To this you have to read.
Of course to do reading you have to learn alphabet .It looks ordinary not fascinating goal but it is the foundation of allllll.
I agree with you for paying attention to the small details which we consider them granted. I felt your nervous while we were doing the exercise of getting very simple information from the books you gave to us. I felt sympathy for you as I have gone through this feeling myself with my students. I apologize and I promise to try harder and harder. I just want to tell you that we are not lazy but we are very busy with our lives and work. Thank you for the effort you are doing with us.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you, because I made a mistake when I uploaded my summary and reflection in two separate files to turnitin. A small mistake makes a huge difference in our lives. However, we have to learn from it. We have to pay attention for every detail, however small is it , it will lead to consequences.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you.But still doing mistakes teach us well.I remebered this while i was working on my refelction to i was so keen to take care about APA style to avoid any little mistake.I used tha 2 papers you gave to us and I read the comments in turnitin i found myself really learning.I would say little few things i would make a great effect in teaching students if only there was a good teacher who built on it
ReplyDeleteMissing our class*_*
